With modern children about the modern present

Content:

On 26 February, our EcoFactor team held a masterclass for students international network of business schools MINIBOSS. At this school, children study various areas of business, unlock their potential and create business projects. The workshop was held as part of the curriculum. The founder of EcoFactor, Sergey Velchev, talks about how everything went, the children's reactions and plans for the future.

What was the idea behind the master class?

The main goal of the event is not just to tell children about electric mobility and business, but to reveal the topic of progressive global trends, green technologies and environmental issues in general. I believe that we need to talk to children about this openly, tell them, show them, because they are the ones who will build our future and take care of the Planet.

I wanted to show by personal example how you can turn your favourite hobby into a business. And not just for the sake of big money, but for the sake of drive and a great idea to change the world for the better. I think we succeeded - the children listened attentively, asked questions and left us very inspired.

How old were the children and how many were there?

Children aged 12 to 17 came to us - about 20 people in total, together with their parents and teachers. When we were preparing the presentation, we took into account that the age group would be wide, so we made the information as easy to understand as possible and tried to cover the topic as widely as possible.

For example, they talked about the design of electric vehicles, how they differ from cars with internal combustion engines, charging stations and EcoFactor projects.

Did you show the children electric cars? What else did you talk about?

Yes, the peculiarity of the masterclass was that we gave the children the opportunity to get to know the subject of discussion - electric cars - as much as possible. In our improvised "classroom", there were cars that they could get into, touch, and explore. The kids loved it - they were hooked :) They listened to my story from the car interiors.

We also took the children to the production site to see how charging stations for electric vehicles are made. What components they consist of, how they are assembled, and so on. Many were interested in touching the circuits and seeing all the "stuffing" in person.

What questions did the children ask after the workshop?

There were a lot of questions - it took about half an hour to answer them all. They asked about how environmentally friendly electric cars really are, how the market and charging infrastructure are developing in Ukraine, how batteries are disposed of and whether they are disposed of at all. There were also questions about the business, for example, about the number of cars sold, employees, and even how many cars we produce per year. There was a very interesting question about the car BMW i3The 70% is made from materials that are fully recyclable and reused for the production of new parts, mechanisms or other purposes. Even the energy used to manufacture the components of this car is 70% less, and all the electricity is generated by wind farms. We were surprised that they knew such subtleties.

Even the youngest children performed very well and asked intelligent questions. It was clear that they were interested in the topic and were close to it.

Do you plan to hold such events in the future?

We plan to hold a similar workshop, but for children aged 14-17. It will be a more in-depth analysis of the topic and not so general, because older children will come and a different approach is needed.

Despite the fact that we are busy developing our business and it takes a lot of time, we will still try to hold such events more often. We want to convey the main message to children: Your actions will make our country and the world around us develop much faster and more tangibly than any political reforms.

Given how many choices modern children have nowadays, it is important to understand that a business should be created, first and foremost, as a favourite business. If you do what you like and what fuels you every day, it will benefit you and others, and influence the future of the whole country. We show this by example, because this is how the story of EcoFactor began.
